Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Property Caretaker to maintain and manage a 14-acre family property in Cherry Valley, CA. This is a family’s home away from home, used regularly by relatives, and requires dedicated care to keep it functional, well-maintained, and productive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Property and Farm Maintenance:
- Perform routine lawn care, landscaping, and gardening to ensure the property is well-kept.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, mowers, and other lawn and farm tools.
- Carry out basic home and property repairs, including plumbing and general maintenance.
- Care for the resident animals, including a donkey and soon to be horse, ensuring their feeding, cleaning, and overall well-being.
2. Initiative and Proactivity:
- Take responsibility for day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision.
- Identify and address property needs promptly and proactively.
3. Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with family members about property conditions, repairs, and updates.
- Provide updates on equipment maintenance and any additional requirements.

- Housing: A partially furnished and recently renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is provided on-site. The home includes central heating and air conditioning and has been recently remodeled. It’s adjacent to a 6 car garage with 2 car spaces for caretaker and an 8 stall horse barn ready for your horse (or other animal) all cost covered by the family.
- Utilities: All utilities for the caretaker’s residence are fully covered by the family.
- Exclusive Access: A private driveway entrance with its own address is designated for the caretaker’s residence. Mature trees aid in privacy from main residence.
- Compensation: Starting annual salary of $35,000, plus quarterly bonus opportunities based on performance and property goals.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, and comfortable handling a variety of tasks. Experience operating tractors, mowers, and other equipment is required. A background in property management, landscaping, or farm work is highly desirable. Someone who loves animals and people. This humble family home has been in the family for over 70 years. It’s a blank slate and ready for someone to pour their love into it and treat it as if it were their own.
