Hello, my name is Miguel L. I am a proud American citizen, authorized to work unimpeded in the United States. I’m excited to bring my diverse hands-on skills and strong work ethic to your ranching environment. I’m relocating to Austin, Texas, from Minneapolis, Minnesota in January. That being said, if the right job in a different state were available, I wouldn’t pass it up.

Here’s what I bring to the table (please read full description):

I’m 25 years old, 6’2, 185-190 lbs., I’ve got various kinds of construction, labour, and mechanical knowledge. I have worked many construction jobs over several years. I have a college degree in business, but have always worked physically demanding jobs; Built fences, decks, painted houses, installed flooring, fixed plumbing and fixtures, patched walls, poured concrete and completed landscaping projects. Mechanical knowledge from working on and fixing trucks, cars, and motorcycles and other various machines. Experienced with all types of hand and power tools (saws, drills, wrenches, axes, etc.). Can hook up and haul trailers. Know how to use motorized machines like pressure washers, roto tillers, chain saws, mowers etc.

Familiar with using rifles, shotguns, and handguns safely and effectively. Not squeamish. All through grade school and high school I spent my summers helping on my grandfather’s small ranch near Albuquerque, New Mexico, he only had a few cattle and some acres, but I learned a lot from him. I gained early experience working with livestock, maintaining fences, and caring for the land. I’ve cleared out many irrigation ditches. I can lift heavy loads, can work long hours in extreme conditions, cut weeds and brush, cut down trees, and handle all general labor tasks. Not too afraid of heights and a confident swimmer if that helps. I can get up to work early and stay late. I pride myself on being on time, have a 1/2 ton 4×4 pickup truck, several tools, boots, outerwear, and supplies for myself ready to go. I don’t presently have chaps, spurs, rope, or saddle but could acquire these. I have a clean driver’s license, no criminal record, and can pass an alcohol and drug screening. I do not drink and I am a sober person and have been for some years. I’m experienced in keeping general ledgers, handling contracting work, and following through on projects. I’m good at following directions and learning on the job.

I want to learn more about ranching, my grandparents were ranchers and they’ve since passed. I can ride a horse, but definitely need more time in the saddle before being able to say I can ride well. I want to learn how to rope, herd, brand, properly feed, all other kinds of cowboy and ranch knowledge. I want to be a cowboy, I want to be out on the range. The bigger the ranch the more appealing it is to me. Not afraid of a challenge.

In my free time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, playing guitar, lifting weights, and riding motorcycles when I can. My favorite food is bacon, eggs, and toast. I played several sports in high school and consider myself a pretty physically apt person. I was raised by good honest hardworking folks. I believe in God and have good manners. I have some tattoos on my arms, but I can cover them if required to.

If you’re looking for a dependable, hardworking ranch hand with a broad set of skills and who’s eager to learn, I’d love the opportunity to join your team. If you’d like a copy of a professional resume I can provide that upon request. I’m ready to get to work. I’m open to driving from Austin or accepting on-site housing if available. Living on a ranch would be very exciting to me. If the right opportunity comes and it is not in Texas I could be open to that too.

Please call, text, or email anytime.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,
Miguel L.
