We are seeking an experienced and hardworking couple/pair to join us on our beautiful cattle ranch in Mendocino County. We require live-in caretakers who will treat the ranch with the utmost care, dedication, and attention to detail. In both positions, we need well organized self-starters who can prioritize and be efficient with their time; both able to proactively see/diagnose potential problems and try to head them off before leading to unmanageable escalation.
We are a friendly, down-to-earth, and caring family who want our employees to enjoy their working environment as much as we enjoy our home. This unique opportunity includes accommodation in a 3-bedroom on-grid home and the use of a ranch truck as part of the compensation package.
Position 1: Cattle Ranch Manager
Work Schedule: Salaried position is based on full-time involvement
Responsibilities:
- Start and maintain cattle program (organic grass-fed beef) from ground up
- Responsible for the health, welfare and movement of all livestock
- Oversee day-to-day ranch operations
- Maintain and repair fencing
- Maintain housekeeping of barn
- Gather and move strays back to appropriate areas
- Maintain inventory of animal feed
- Experience with operating heavy equipment
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment
- Timber management and sustainable land practices
- Confidently navigate governmental agencies for assistance with timber and cattle operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in running an organic grass-fed beef operation (minimum three years’ experience)
- Proficiency in fencing, equipment operation, and timber management
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with a professional attitude
- Previous experience with horses, sheep, alpaca, donkeys, chicken, which might be added to the mix
- Legal USA citizenship to work in the USA
- Have a valid and clean driver’s license
Compensation:
- $45,000 per year
- Additional Benefits: Rent-free accommodation in onsite 3-bedroom home, plus use of a ranch truck
Position 2: Lodge/Cabin Cleaner
Work Schedule: Anticipated 20 hours per week. 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (may vary, we would appreciate flexibility).
Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain the lodge, guest cabins and an AirBnB cabin
- Maintain guest rooms for visitors to include making beds, changing linens (some ironing required)
- Launder sheets and towels
- Ensure all areas (indoors and outdoors) are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness
- Window washing, inside and out
- Gather and disperse trash, recycling, and compost
- Water and maintain indoor and outdoor potted plants
- Manage cleaning supplies and equipment
- Carry out seasonal deep cleaning and organizational projects
- Tend vegetable garden/greenhouse
- Occasional grocery shopping
Note: We use all eco-friendly cleaning products, which we expect our cleaning staff to respect and adhere to.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working as a housekeeper, preferably, in a private residence or in an AirBnB.
- Legal USA citizenship to work in the USA
- Have a valid and clean driver’s license
- Excellent communication skills and follow-through
Compensation: $20 per hour
Additional Benefit: Rent-free accommodation in onsite 3-bedroom home.
