Brief Description: Focus Ranch is historically a working cattle / guest ranch but is currently operating solely as a yearling cattle ranch. We are located on the Colorado/Wyoming border with land in both states. Steamboat Springs is 50 miles from our location. The yearling cattle operation begins each year in California where the cattle are bought and wintered. In May, they are trucked here where they are pastured until sold and shipped in August/September. We also run a small number of cow/calf pairs. The Little Snake River flows through the property for approximately 3 miles and is world class trout stream but freezes in the winter. Focus Ranch Winter Position: A few cows and horses to help feed and break ice to open watering holes. Snow removal with shovel and blower. Other work might include facility maintenance, mechanics, off-season indoor jobs depending on skills of applicant. Tractor and other machinery skills a plus.

The owners live here year-round and participate daily in the winter work. The small group of cows and 18 horses are fed round bales with a tractor and feeder. Water holes are opened daily.

Qualifications: Ideally suited for someone retired or semi-retired but still physically active and in good health. Important to be comfortable in a snowy environment and have a 4WD vehicle for personal use. Towns are not close by so self-entertainment with winter sports or hobbies a must. Would be an ideal setting for a snowmobiler enthusiast.

Benefits: Housing provided; food provided but you prepare your own meals; work schedule can be negotiable depending on applicant’s needs; time off also negotiable and flexible depending on work hours; pay negotiable depending on work schedule. Year around work is a possibility.
