Missouri River Ranch – Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker to conduct the maintenance, operation, and optimization of our ranch’s hotel’s physical infrastructure. This role ensures that our grounds and facilities remain safe, efficient and well manicured. The Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker along with the General Manager will also collaborate with external vendors and service providers to maintain the grounds/building’s functionality, safety, and aesthetics.

Job Dates:

Year round. Peak season April-November.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance: At the direction of the General Manager oversee the daily upkeep of the ranch’s exterior facilities, mechanical, buildings, landscaping and general repairs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure equipment longevity and minimize downtime. This includes, but is not limited to: irrigation systems, tools, vehicles, gas & battery powered equipment, etc.
  • Landscaping: Complete weekly landscaping projects as laid out in the Missouri River Ranch landscaping plan. This includes, but is not limited to: mowing/walk throughs of the 160-acre property, sending progress reports to management, maintaining landscaping gear.
  • Vendor & Project Management: Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers. Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and projects with approved vendors. Monitor hours, cost and quality of work.
  • Budget Contribution: Assist in contributing to and managing the facilities budget, including forecasts for future repairs, upgrades, and equipment needs.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and materials necessary for the maintenance and operation of the hotel’s facilities.
  • Pre/Post Peak Season: Conduct the winterization and winterization of all facilities and equipment.
  • Winter Maintenance: Maintaining cleared walkways and driveways so that deliveries and emergency vehicles can quickly/effectively access the property. Conducting daily walk throughs of all facilities and buildings to ensure that systems are running properly. Preventing trespassers/poachers from accessing the property.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in grounds and facility maintenance, with a focus on groundskeeping, ranch and exterior building maintenance
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of general construction, repairs, maintenance as well as exterior grounds.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in facilities management, construction management or other certifications preferred but not required
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to implement efficient solutions under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with vendors, staff, and senior management.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic, dependable and knowledgeable about general construction, landscaping / grounds maintenance and ranch operations
  • Experience working with local vendors and service providers in Montana/the American west.
  • Certification in Facilities Management (CFM), Facility Maintenance Professional (FMP), or similar credentials preferred but not required
  • Location: On-site – [Craig, Montana]

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the Hotel General Manager and CEO of the Management Company.
