Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual or couple to take on the role of Homesteader for a 15-acre farm. The primary focus of this position is to cultivate and maintain a diverse blend of crops and livestock, ensuring the farm thrives year-round. In exchange for your hard work and dedication, you will live rent-free on the property and have access to the food produced on the farm.
Responsibilities:
- Crop Cultivation: Plant, grow, and harvest a variety of crops suitable for the region.
- Livestock Care: Manage and care for farm animals, ensuring their health and productivity.
- Farm Maintenance: Maintain the overall health of the farm, including soil management, irrigation systems, fencing, and farm equipment.
- Sustainability Practices: Implement and maintain sustainable farming practices to ensure long-term productivity and environmental health.
- Food Preservation: Process and store harvested food for year-round consumption.
- Community Engagement: Engage with local community resources and markets to exchange knowledge, goods, and services as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in farming, gardening, or homesteading preferred.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Commitment to a self-sufficient and sustainable lifestyle.
- Basic carpentry and mechanical skills are a plus.
