Looking for a ranch hand with potential to move into a foreman position in the near future at a large (48,000 acres) private guest ranch in southern Colorado. We are looking for someone that is experienced with hay production, pasture management, irrigation, fencing, and some cattle experience as well. Cattle are not the main priority of this ranch, and this is not a “cowboying” position, but we do keep a small herd of beef cattle that needs to be worked and monitored while grazing mainly in our backcountry during the summer months. We do cut and bale our own hay to feed our cattle and herd of around 50 horses as well and we are looking for someone with experience running all types of related equipment.

Since first and foremost we are a guest ranch, there is some guest interface and hospitality expected. This may be taking out groups into the high country to view wildlife or other similar activities.

We are a hunting operation as well and this position will be part of our hunt team. There is the possibility of guiding hunts for someone that has that previous experience, but all members of this team assist with setting up blinds, game retrievals and working in the skinning shed.

There is a possibility for year-round employment but typically during the winter months it consists of feeding livestock and working on construction and maintenance projects.

We are looking for someone that works well independently and with a team especially when it comes to communication. Skill is important but it comes second to being able to be a positive team member that is willing to jump in and do what needs to be done without complaining. This is not an 8 to 5 type of position and often requires long hours and varying days off throughout the seasons.

Compensation is a competitive salary DOE, housing (no family housing available) and utilities, meals with other staff, 401K after a year of employment, season end performance-based bonus, and share of the tip pool.
