Salem Horse Ranch
Part Time position available in private horse barn near Salem, Oregon. We need a responsible, reliable worker with horse experience that can be on time, follow directions, work unsupervised and with the trainer.
Flexible schedule not limited to 2 to 8 hours per day. Some weekends and holidays required.
Typical duties include, but not limited to, stall and paddock cleaning, bedding stalls, cleaning water troughs and buckets. Sweeping the aisles and keeping the cross tie area clean. Checking on outside horses, helping repair fence, move hay. Possibly feeding and caretaking.
Cleaning tack, grooming, clipping, braiding, bathing horses or other duties as assigned.
Tacking saddle horses and harnessing draft horses.
Operating a tractor and manure spreader a plus, but if you can learn, we can teach.
Must be over 18 years old.
Must be able to work around and lead show horses quietly, respectfully and confidently.
This is a physical job requiring walking and standing throughout the day. Lifting, bending, stooping, etc., is required. The work is physically demanding.
There is exposure to the outside in all weather conditions. Also exposure to manure, machinery, dust and other conditions.
This is not a live in position, nor would we board your personal horse.
We can provide on the job training for an applicant with a background in horses.
We require the applicant provide good references. Wages dependent on experience.
