JOB DESCRIPTION
We recently purchased a phenomenal hill country ranch just outside of Llano and just over an hour to Austin. This is a 312-acre exotic hunting ranch that is entirely high-fenced. The ranch features a variety of exotic game from Wildebeests, Scimitar Oryx, Eland, Axis, Fallow, and more. There is a very healthy whitetail deer population with hogs and wild turkey to hunt.
This is a very diverse ranch with rugged hills, bottomland, pasture, and abundant tree coverage, including large live-oak, Spanish oak, cedar elm, pecan, mesquite and prickly-pear and others. Amazing views and vistas. There are many very nice water features throughout the ranch including one large pond, and several wet weather creeks. There is an exceptional road system throughout the ranch, making almost all of it accessible. Additionally, a 3/3 brick house and a 3/1 bunkhouse, both of which are going to be remodeled. We are building a new pole barn as well. There is a large pump house storage box and 2 electric wells plus one windmill.
We are looking to hire a full-time ranch manager to take care of the property. This includes everything from maintaining the road system, monitoring feeders, running and repairing fencing, to taking care of the livestock and other animals on the ranch. We currently have donkeys, cattle, and the exotics. We plan on getting mini pigs, mini cows and chickens. We are specifically looking for someone who is handy and has experience with construction and the ability to fix things that come up. Plumbing, minor electrical, and general maintenance/repair skills are helpful. You will need to be able to manage subcontractors for the remodel. Bonus if you hold skillsets that can contribute to the remodel. We have a tractor and several other ranch vehicles along with dirt bikes. A huge benefit would be someone who can keep these properly maintained and fueled.
As owners who live in Austin, we typically are out on the ranch Thursday/Friday through Sunday. The expectation would be that this ranch manager ensures everything is running smoothly and the animals and wildlife are taken care of properly so that we can arrive and enjoy the ranch. We are open to providing on-site housing and stipend if not currently local to the area. Compensation can be negotiated if not on-site.
Job Requirements
- Prior experience as a ranch manager or ranch hand
- Knowledge and experience with hunting and taking care of livestock
- Handy
- Knowledgeable with construction and occasional subcontractor management
- Ability to operate a tractor and implements
- Polaris, tractor, dirt-bike, car maintenance experience
- Clean and organized
- Strong work ethic and drive
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
COMPENSATION
We are open to providing on-site housing and stipend. Compensation can be negotiated if not on-site.
