Mountain Sky Guest Ranch
Come ride with us this fall!
Mountain Sky is a high-end, horsemanship-oriented guest and cattle operation located in Montana’s Paradise Valley. The ranch sits on 17,000 private acres and backs up to Gallatin National Forest.
We are looking to fill a couple of fall wrangler positions that will begin as soon as possible and last through October 7th. Excellent people skills and a strong background in horsemanship are required for this position. If you haven’t guided before, that’s ok- we’ll teach you. Our family season has 7-night stays and runs through August 26th. After that, we have 5 night stay adult packages through mid October. Seasonal wrangler positions will occasionally develop into year-round positions, with the winter months being dedicated to horse training.
Trail rides are not the typical boring nose-to-tail walking dude rides. Our guests stay for a week at a time, and come to ride! We lead walk, trot, and lope rides, all with a heavy instruction component.
Employees live on site – housing is provided, but we are unable to provide family housing or accommodate dogs. Wranglers with contracts over 6 months are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance. Starting salary is $2,650 per month, and includes room and board. Upon completion of your contract, you will also be awarded a share of our service charge pool.
TO APPLY:
To apply, please send your resume, answers to the following questions (below), and a photo of yourself riding to our email address listed. A riding video that includes loping and posting the trot will also be required during the hiring process. We will begin conducting interviews this week.
Application Questions:
1) Describe your riding background- how long have you been riding? What discipline are you most experienced in? Do you have any experience working with green horses or colts?
2) Do you have any experience teaching people to ride?
3) Describe a horse that you’ve worked with recently that had a behavioral issue or sticky spot- how did you work through it?
4) How soon can you start? Can you stay through at least October 7th?
