Mark & Becca
We are a family of 6 who have been ranching in Texas on a small scale for the past 10 years, and we are ready for change. As a family, we have experience in raising and/or breeding: dairy and beef cattle, show cattle, poultry, goats, pigs, livestock guardian dogs, and horses. We currently raise registered Texas Longhorns, and we often use many of our longhorns for charity events. Our daughters have trained a few of our longhorn steers to ride. At these events, guests not only get the opportunity to see, pet, and feed a Texas Longhorn, but they can also ride one!
Mark:
After working in law enforcement for 15 years, I retired to start my own trucking business. However, my passion lies in ranching and equipment. I am proficient in stick welding and metal work, and I have my own welding trailer. I am experienced in vehicle maintenance and repair. I can operate heavy machinery including tractors, skid steers, and dozers. I also hold a Class A CDL with all endorsements (plus hazmat). I enjoy turning wrenches, working with my hands, and learning new skills. I do not believe in idle hands. I am looking for a position that takes care of equipment and maintains the property. I do enjoy working with cattle and other livestock.
Becca:
Just before I had our first child, I was in the customer service industry and coached high school athletics. Once our 4th daughter was born, I began running our small ranch. In addition to homeschooling our 4 children, I tend to all of the livestock, which included milking both cows and goats for several years. I take care of marketing and selling our livestock and budgeting for general animal husbandry. While I have yet to get certified in A.I., it’s on my list of things to do. I am looking to work alongside my husband in all aspects of ranching. I also would take interest in a housekeeping, cooking/cleaning (guest ranch situation), and/or a separate position with animal care and management.
A little about our kids:
We have 4 kids ages 9-15 years old. They are all Longhorn showmen, and care for all of their own livestock. They are extremely helpful and can provide extra hand for those small tedious tasks. Our oldest has decided on a Ranch Manager career for herself when she graduates in 2 1/2 years. Seeing a ranch foreman opportunity first hand would help her in this endeavor.
As for our current home, we will not be selling if we need to relocate. We have family who are looking for a place to live, so we would still own a home. Ideally we would love a place that we could take a few of our riding steers and 1 dog. Recently our kids have had the itch to rodeo, so we have been on the hunt for horses. If the position allows for personal horses, we would hold off on finding rodeo horses as we understand relocating performance horses in a permanent situation is not ideal when you consider weather and elevation. Neither our steers nor the horses are a must, just ideal.
If relocated, we are looking for housing on the ranch.
Willing to relocate to: Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missippippi, Idaho, Florida
We both have resumes and references if needed.
We believe in God, family, and country. If you hire us, you get 12 able hands for the price of 1-2. We do things as a family, this includes work.
