I am searching for a short or long-term property caretaker position. This can be a live-in or live-out arrangement. This position could be on a ranch, farm, remote off-grid mountain property, or a rural residence outside of small town or city. I have experience in all of those situations.
I am accustomed to, and prefer, absentee owner situations, where the property owner requires a property security and building maintenance-upkeep presence in their absence. I have 14 years of experience with excellent references.
My background: I worked in the procurement-purchasing area for some reputable medical equipment companies, and one (1) software development company, for the better part of 20 years up to July of 2000.
From mid 2000 through late 2002 I lived in the Midwest assisting with family emergencies and aftercare for a family member. During the time I was caregiver for a family member, I worked a few part-time jobs to provide income.
Between Nov 2003 and Nov 2005 I worked as Contracts Manager for the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens on the central coast of California.
By the end of 2005 I was done with the corporate shuffle and started a 14 year stretch as property caretaker. I did security work for a few resort concessionaire's (in between caretaker jobs), house-sat, and even worked a few summers for private business owners. So, I have kept busy.
A list of some main property caretaker work experience disciplines include:
- Small and large property security
- Small and large property building and maintenance
- Equipment and tool maintenance
- Basic handyman tasks
- Landscape care
- Painting and staining
- Basic carpentry
- Use of chainsaws and wood splitter
- Operation of ATV and Kubota tractor
- Hiring and oversight of third party contractors
- Inventory and ordering of supplies
- Administrative and computer skills
- Farm and ranch animal care
- Self-starter
- Work best independently without supervision
Why property care-taking? I chose property care-taking as an alternative life style to to set my own work schedule and daily activities. Property care-taking for absentee owner's has provided me with the freedom and flexibility I enjoy the most. I have several letters of recommendation from satisfied property owners.
Most recently spent 8 months in Alaska working for a hunting-fishing lodge, Wildman Lake Lodge. I was there from October 2018 thru May 2019. I currently reside in Hotchkiss, Colorado.
I have re-located several times in the past, after acceptance of a new caretaker position. So, it is important to note that if the right opportunity comes along, I will relocate.
