Parker Family Ranches
We are a family run cattle ranch involved in direct consumer sales of our beef and looking for a mature, full-time Ranch Manager headquartered in Goldthwaite, Texas with ranches in Mills, Hamilton and Lampasas counties. The ideal candidate is congenial, experienced and hard working. Must also be self-motivated to work productively alone, or with others, and have experience in managing cattle. Proficiency is also needed in maintaining ranch equipment and the overall property.
Job Title: Ranch Manger (full-time; or part-time to full-time)
Reports to: Ranch Owner
Position Overview: Daily feed and care for cattle and small goat herd, maintain property (includes equipment, vehicles and physical facilities) and aid in ranch improvement projects. Prefer a non-smoker that has 2-5 plus years of experience as ranch hand or cattle manager.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Livestock (50%) Examples: Daily feed and manage 125+ head cow herd consisting of a focus on gentle Red Angus / Angus Cows crossed with Akaushi Bulls. Aid in the following: calving, castration, vaccinations, ear tagging, obtaining DNA samples, hauling cattle to processor and sales, animal husbandry procedures.
- Maintain Property & Ranch Improvement Projects (25%) Examples: Inspect ranch structures such as buildings, fences, troughs, or roads, and maintain or make repairs. Service and maintain tractors, mowers, rangers, skid steer, farm equipment, and other power equipment. Aid in fence work repair, mowing, weed eating, tree trimming, road repair, weed spraying, pasture aerating, tree cutting and spraying, painting, trough/waterline repair, and light home repairs.
- Operate Machinery efficiently and safely (25%) Examples: Operate ranch equipment, tractors (be able to hook-up/detach implements), skid steer, chain saw, blower, use mower, weed eater and haul/tow with trucks, rangers and cattle.
Preferred Competencies
Integrity; Beef cow/calf production experience; Self-starter; Excellent communication skills; Reliable/Hard-worker; Mechanical; Light home repairs: Plumbing ability; and Welding ability a plus;
