David A.
My desire is to career-change into a full-time, permanent, entry-level bird dog/cattle dog/ranch hand position on a training ranch, preferably in Oklahoma, Texas, or Missouri (open to other states), I’d also like to learn cattle and horse care, doctoring, and managed grazing as my fiancee (a cattle rancher in Australia) and I hope to buy a small ranch in the coming years.
For the past eight or so years I’ve made my living as a ghostwriter and author, supplementing that with kennel work and “puppy raising” for two well-known guide dog organizations. That kennel and puppy raising experience has made me a skilled dog handler, basic obedience trainer, and hard-working kennel tech.
Admittedly, I’m new to ranching and riding, having only recently started riding lessons (7 so far) with World Champion Paint Horse Trainer Kristen Hertsgaard of KLH Performance Horses. My goal is to become proficient enough to be of benefit to my employer should riding be part of my job description.
I’m healthy and promise to give my best if you’ll give me a chance. I’m a God-fearing Christian, reasonably intelligent, drug and alcohol free, dependable, and fairly handy with hand and power tools (I build wood furniture as a hobby). I’m also willing to help write web copy and marketing materials for your ranch if desired.
If you feel I might be a good fit for your organization, please let me know. I will gladly drive out from California at my own expense to meet with you.
Thank you so much for considering me for a position.
Blessings,
David
