We are currently a private guest ranch for friends and family, looking for a qualified individual to work and live at the ranch full time. The ranch is located in Rand, Colorado. The individual we are looking for will need to wear many hats throughout the year as acting Barn Manager, being responsible for Guest Services and assisting the Ranch Manager with various tasks consistent with those of a Ranch Hand. The ideal candidate should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, exemplary attention to detail, and have a strong work ethic with the ability to work both autonomously and as a team, alongside the Ranch Manager and other ranch employees and associates. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.
As Barn Manager, the candidate will need to possess extensive equine experience as he/she will be responsible for herd and barn management (cleaning of stalls/pens/runs, maintaining equine equipment and facilities, working with horses, knowledge of equine wellness and overall care, leading trail rides for guests, etc.). Guest Services responsibilities will consist of greeting visitors upon arrival, cleaning interior and exterior of cabins/lodge/owner home, hot tub maintenance, seasonal projects, assisting guests as needed, etc. The candidate will also need to have an experienced skillset for Ranch Hand tasks and responsibilities and willing to take direction from the Ranch Manager regarding these tasks (fixing fence, general maintenance, clearing trails, running equipment/tractors, skid loader, etc.).
Winter months are spent removing snow, general ranch maintenance, etc. Summer months are spent haying, cleaning barns, landscaping and irrigation projects, deep cleaning of cabins/structures, etc. Longer summer hours are also necessary during hay season. Some weekends, year-round, require guest services for snowmobile rides, horseback rides, cookouts, etc.
We are looking for an individual that is up for the challenges of this combined position, is trustworthy, takes great pride in their work and will be a good steward of the land. There is a lot to care for and equally as much to enjoy!
