Pasion Iberica Ranch
We are a small, family owned farm ranch starting a second location. We are seeking an energetic full-time, year round Ranch Manager that will be excited to participate in our adventure with a challenge: to get this new 340+ acre property up and running against the clock. The animals are outgrowing our first location and we’d like to move them here as soon as possible.
The person we hire will help plan and do the work required to start up this location, and then continue to run it. He will live on property and be fully responsible for the property, equipment and animals, including their transportation from the nursery (our first farm, under 60 miles away).
We raise Iberian pigs; a traditional breed of the domestic pig native to the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) first brought to America in the summer of 2014. We raise them free-range and sell them alive for high-end meat production. “Foodies” consider special cuts of this meat a delicacy rivaling caviar and truffles. Housing will be included but must be built. In the meantime, arrangements can be made to live on the property.
Responsibilities
Animals
- Transport from our nursery farm to this location two to four times per year
- Feed, doctor and rotate between pastures
- Monitor health and proactively address issues
- Keep detailed electronic records
- Preserve our animal-friendly treatment operating philosophy
Property and Equipment
- Build, monitor for damage and maintain fences and water systems
- Clean and maintain in good condition facilities, equipment and tools
- Keep electronic inventory of supplies, equipment and tools
- Purchase supplies and equipment as needed
- Maintain roads and property clear and in general good condition
Qualifications and Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Able to pass a background check and periodic drug tests
- Able to speak English – some Spanish is a plus
- 10 years of experience handling farm animals and doing general ranch and land work
- Able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
- Able to perform outdoor manual labor on a daily basis regardless of weather
- Able to operate ranch equipment and perform their general maintenance
- Able to build and maintain fence and water systems
- Basic handyman skills – electrical and welding are a plus
- Cost conscious
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
