One Horse Creek
A unique position just opened to be the manager of an 1,100-acre ranch in Florence. The ranch is in excellent condition yet offers the opportunity for a new manager to bring creativity to the job. This is a hands-on job that also includes the responsibility to help us decide how we do things here in the long term. The owners are looking for a smart, hard working person with proven skills who enjoys working independently without a lot of close supervision. Duties include irrigating, haying, horse care, and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, fields and forests, buildings and grounds.
Required skills include:
– mechanical knowledge ranging from fixing farm implements and servicing vehicles to the maintenance of ranch and residential buildings
– experience with farm operations, including the operation of excavators, balers, etc. as well as grass and weed management, fencing and so on
– irrigation operations, including hand lines, wheel lines, pivots and underground gravity-slow water distribution
– repair and fabrication skills using wood and steel; good welding skills are essential
